PJ Patella-Rey

PJ Patella-Rey first joined the GSWS Program as a visiting scholar in 2017 and began teaching in the program in 2018. They regularly teach multiple sections of Introduction to GSWS and have also taught course on Race, Sex, and Pop Culture; Masculinities; Gender and the Digital; and Sex Work and Sex Workers.

 

Their dissertation examined labor and intimacy between sex cam models and clients. They are currently researching portrayals of masculinity in classic radio noir.

 

They have a deep interest in public scholarship, with past projects including the Peepshow Podcast, the Cyborgology blog, the Theorizing the Web Conference.

 

They are also an active event and portrait photographer and a Polaroid enthusiast.
