Dominique Brown
- Teaching Assistant Professor
Dominique M. Brown is an educator at heart. All of her work comes back to teaching and building into others. She develops curriculums rooted in anti-oppression frameworks, facilitates critical dialogues, and creates spaces centering women of color. She earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Miami University in 2022.
As a holistic educator focused on promoting the wellbeing of women in the African diaspora, She specializes in cultivating womanist healing practices for and with Black women. She is trained in somatic movement, meditation, and contemplative practices. She collaborates with practitioners who focus on yoga, creative/art healing practices, Black folk healing, etc. as a means of alleviating racialized trauma.
Her research interests span the cross-sections of womanism/Black feminism and the African Diaspora; integrating critical pedagogy and contemplative practice.
